Matthew 5:14 – “Ye Are The Light Of The World. A City That Is Set On an Hill Cannot Be Hid.”
Light Of The World by Allysa Orr of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church.
2017 Feast Meeting – Greensboro N.C.
Sister Allysa Orr: I’m glad to be here this morning and I’m glad to say that I’m converted and sanctified and what everybody has been saying has been what I’ve been thinking about. Brother David kinda touched on it, brother Paul touched on it and different ones. But I have been thinking about how we are the light of the earth. We are the light of the world. And I was reading my Bible the other day and Matthew 5:14. I have a Bible app that suggests a verse of the day and this is what came up. And it was just hit spot on what I was thinking about and it says,
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel but on a candlestick and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
And I guess what I’ve had on my mind is we are a… It says in 1st Peter that we are peculiar people. He didn’t call us to be like everybody else. He didn’t call us to just exist. We were made to be the light of the world. We’re meant to do something. We’re meant to stand out.
The song we sang earlier said, “He is the light, in Him is no darkness,” and what I’ve been thinking about is if we abide in Him, we can’t have any of that darkness with us either. And I came up with some weird metaphor in my brain, so just bear with me. I’ve been thinking about if we are flashlights and we are not doing our… If we’re not being peculiar, we’re like a flashlight that’s turned on and set over on a counter. And I mean it’s on but it’s not doing anything. But you can also use that flashlight to find people that are in darkness and you can use it as a soul saving instrument. I have…this song came to my mind. I think it kinda sums up the meeting. It says, “Here’s the light. Children, here’s the light. Here is the light that the angels led before us and we will follow were the Spirit gently leads us, for we are dwelling in this holy, happy land.”
Uncle Jim said last night that he’d just like to give salvation to whoever he could. He’d like to just grab them and take them all with him. Unfortunately we can’t do that, but we can invite you. We can say, “Here’s the light”, but you have to take it. It requires action on your part.” It says, “Once I was in the dark lonesome valley where Satan lead with trouble all around, but I followed where the spirit gently led me. Now I’m dwelling in this holy, happy land.” And I think that’s kinda what everybody’s been saying today, that… And the song’s we’ve been singing, it’s all been going together really pretty. I think that’s really neat how the spirit can do that for us that we could all come from different places and we can be reading different things, and it all just comes together because the spirit was leading it. And I just wanna say this morning, here’s the light. You have to take it and then you have to use it once you have it. When you pray, pray for me.
Audience Sings : Out of Egypt…
Camping in Canaan’s Land
by Albert E. Brumley
Lyrics:
I have left the land of bondage with its earthly treasures.
I’ve journeyed to a place where there is love on every hand;
I’ve exchanged a land of heartaches for a land of pleasure,
I’m camping, I’m camping in Canaan’s happy land.
Cho.-Ev’ry day I’m camping, in the land of Canaan,
And with rapture I survey its wondrous beauties grand;
Glory hallelujah, I have found the land of promise,
I’m camping, I’m camping in Canaan’s happy land.
Out of Egypt I have traveled, thru the darkness dreary,
Far over hills and valleys and across the desert sands;
But I’ve landed safe at home where I shall not grow weary,
I’m camping, I’m camping in Canaan’s happy land.
Yes, I’ve reached the land of promise with it’s scenes of glory,
My journey ended in a place so lovely and so grand;
I’ve been led by Jesus to this blessed land of story,
I’m camping, I’m camping in Canaan’s happy land
