The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God its end.
It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
We mourn the loss from our midst of a mighty gospel warrior, a beloved husband, father , brother and friend, Brother Leon Stewart Sr. Those who knew him, know that he has gone to glory and left us an inheritance of a lifetime of fruitful labor in the Lord’s vineyard. He was a man of many talents, building fine homes, creating art on canvas, and playing the piano. But his greatest talent by far was preaching. He used this gift in the service of God and his church for over 60 years, spreading light and salt in a world desperately needing both. We celebrate his life and rejoice in knowing indeed ‘that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.’ 2 Corinthians 5:1
Brother Leon has put aside his earthly dwelling for a glorious dwelling above.
We invite you to listen to some of his sermons that have been preserved in the archives of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church ( Audio Sermons ). The following is one of the earliest we could find . It is: Jesus the Light of the world.
We have all been blessed by having known this dear man of God.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, 2500 North Highway 41, Fort Valley, Georgia. The funeral service will be Sunday, October 7th at the Church at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery.
